London Calling

by WBlackwell on January 25, 2019

OK Time for a wander.

New personal best, worst. 4 hours before Border Agency gave me permission to enter the UK. I still have no idea why I get such scrutiny but thankful I was allowed to enter.

Giving myself a special treat tomorrow to get back on balance

Forget the old git, I liked this statue of Hungarian composer Bela Bartok.

Great building and familiar gates

As I wandered I found myself by the Palace. Her Majesty is in Sandringham otherwise I’m sure she would have had me in for tea. The huge fountain in from of Buckingham Palace is brilliant in detail

“They’re changing guards at Buckingham Palace
Christopher Robin when down with Alice
Alice is marrying one of the guards
A soldier’s life is terribly hard, said Alice”

Across St James’ where you always see some interesting birds.  I’m amazed that it’s January and the pelicans are all about.  That coot could walk on water &  I think that is a Gray Heron, a little smaller than an American Blue.

Past monuments of Adm. Jellicoe, James Cook, through arches, Landseer’s lions guarding the base of Nelson’s Column

George Washington outside the National Gallery?!?

So what do you do on a dreich January Day? Score!

Yup, I have seen the phenomenon and understand why people are raving. Of course there was no way I could afford a ticket in Boston where center front are in the $1500 range so when I got a ticket for £100 I pounced on it!

Proof that I’m a Scot as we always seek the deal

A great day to start the trip.  Weather back in CT was below freezing so 5c is ok.  Stop for a pint, hit Tesco make dinner and watch some Brit TV.  Cider comes in 2 liters for under a fiver.
