I have very much enjoyed my time in Britain and I know that after our chat in Calais, I have a couple of followers of my trip from the Border Agency. I hope you guys enjoyed it.  Send me an email & I’ll put you on the announcement list for further wanders.  In fact since I’ve handed out hundreds of cards anyone who has one please feel free to send me your contact info and I’ll let you know when the next trip starts.

Dublin is much flater than Glasgow and therefore easier to walk.  The buses are more expensive

One thing I’ve noticed here is that food & drink are more expensive than either The States or the UK.

70cl of Scotch or Irish whiskey costs about the same as 1.75L in Massachusetts and it is slightly lower in UK.  And a pint in a pub in the UK is about £3.25 /$5 vs $8 in the US and around €5/$5.35

Food, which seems slightly cheaper in the UK than what I’m used to in MA or CT is about 25% more in Dublin than UK.  I used Tesco as my baseline.

I mentioned my fibromyalgia in the opening post.  After over 30 days and 6 nations (Not the rugby league but countries I’ve been in) I can give an update.  I wake each day in sever pain mostly in the back & pectorals from fibro.  Moving during the day that pain isn’t usually too bad unless I over do it expecially lugging my kit but once I go to sleep everything seem to lock up.  This isn’t really much different than home but is very annoying, nay depressing even. When the first thing in your head as you awake is where do I NOT hurt, well, it’s not the way one would like to start the day. But as Coach Bill would say, “It is what it is”.  I tried high dose ibuprofen and that left my insides rubbish and paracetamol with codeine can only be used for 3 days as it is addictive and causes constipation.  Sort of a can’t win situation. And sometime when I do  a lot of walking my thighs burn but that is probably just a 65 year old man overdoing it issue, not fibro.  Bottom line, pain is no worse whilst wandering than sitting home with a few good books but if the hotel bed is too hard things do get worse.

And the arthritis or whatever has my right foot in a daily brace and I can’t sleep on my side due to a severe, sharp pain in my right hip.  But these two things I can have doctors check out and maybe, unlike the fibro, they are treatable.

Another thing, spell checker in WordPress, my blog software siscks.  I meant sucks and it didn’t pick up that typo!
