Oddly enough I rarely drink beer stateside. Spoiled by too many Belhavens. The trick is 1/2 pints. If the pub is lame, then you’re out of there quickly, if it’s a a good one, with good banter, than order another (folks are naturally more likely to offer to refill a 1/2 too) and stay awhile
