Beaver Hunting in Norwich CT

by WBlackwell on April 19, 2021

I had noticed these lodges from the highway (I 395) so today I went stomping! The were definite signs that beaver HAD been here but I have no proof they still ARE here.

Nice to be in the woods again.  Too far away I think there were a pair of Red Mergansers and a Wood Duck raced by but too fast to id the tree it was nesting in

I’m going with Eastern Painted Turtle

And a lot of Blue Heron

Tree swallows were out in droves.  Or flight or gulp?

Midges, gnats, no see ums.  Whatever they drove me off but I thought I saw something brown move on the lodge!

Turned out to be an Canada Goose doing I don’t know what.  I’ll have to get a midge net and try again
