I have finally reach the goal of the entire trip. Castle Urquart is thought to have first come into existence around 1230 but there is some thought that the site may have been visited by St. Columba in 537. When I left the suburb visitor center and first set eyes on the Castle I was overcome with the greatest sense of deja vu I have ever experienced. I knew I had been here hundreds of years before. What I probably was experiencing was exhaustion, but who knows?
I had let my long hair stay well past it’s expire date and when asked when I was going to enter the 21st century I always replied “Once it has felt the winds over the Great Loch whilst I stand on Castle Urquhart”. I’ll have more on that later.
