Chester Cathedral & St. John the Baptist

St. Johns was founded in  689 by King Aethelred.  Rebuilt many times, it is an active church today.

Nice to see stained glass on a sunny day.

But the main cathedral is Chester where construction began around 1093.

The organist began to play Bach’s  “Jesus que ma joie demeure” (whose name I did not know but the tune was very familiar) while I was absorbing everything.
