First impressions of Manchester, England

by WBlackwell on June 21, 2017

I had been somewhat annoyed that I couldn’t get wifi on the Virgin train without having to pay.  Scotrail being free. And therefor I did not get off at the closest station to the Stay Inn, the very nice (they have ice!) hotel where I’ll stay whilst in Manchester. And I would definitely stay here again if I return.  Manchester offers a free, every 10 minutes, bus shuttle coving the center of the city.  More than made up for the wrong rail stop.

I went into Vodefone near the entrance to the Manchester Arndale, one of the largest shopping malls I’ve ever been in.  Lilly greeted me with a big smile and considering that my purchase was not a phone, tablet or much of anything, still happily spent time pointing out things I should see whilst in the city.  I then went to Carlos, the store manager to tell him how impressed I was with Lilly. By the time I left the store these two had spent nearly one and a half hours making the Yank Manc feel welcomed.  Thanks guys.
