Glencoe

by WBlackwell on February 26, 2007

From Ben Nevis I headed to Glencoe for the night hoping to fair better than the MacDonalds did in February, 1692. The Glen is awesome and one quickly sees why it is considered one of the most spectacular places in Britain.  I had chosen the Clachaig Inn online and was not disappointed.  Located a few miles off the A87 in the middle of the Great Glen it is one of the warmest most comfortable places you could find.  This Inn is known for it’s three bars with more hand-pulled beers, ales, lagers and stouts than one could try in a month and the selection of single malts is legendary.  They had produced a very nice directory of scotches and with a description of where they were distilled and how they tasted.  The manager very kindly made me a copy that has proven very useful back in the States when I wanted to try something new.
