Sting & Some last Edinburgh bites

by WBlackwell on June 14, 2018

I mentioned the breakfast at the University cafeteria. I tried veggie haggis for the first and last time.  It’s OK just not haggis simply a veggie mash with spices.

It’s a buffet so one doesn’t mound the plate, simply refill it

I went for a walk to the National Museum of Scotland but was very disappointed that it was deemed too windy to open the roof terrace with it’s spectacular views of the Castle and Edinburgh.  It is the best place to see the castle as far as I’ve found.

Watt’s that jokes

Wylam Dilly is one of the oldest surviving steam locatives in the world.  Built in 1813 it hauled coal in Newcastle and it’s twin, Puffing Billy also survives.

Look close into this menagerie and you’ll see a pair of peacocks fighting on the left

The Argyll Car Factory produce the Argyll Flying 15, one of the 800 cars they turned out in 1910,

Watt didn’t invent the steam engine he just made it much, much better. The Newcome engine

The Millennium Clock highlights the best & worst of the 2oth century.  It moves on the hour.  Next time I’ll video it

For Potter fans

I’m guessing this will be seen more and more around Scotland this year and next

When I left the museum with a nod to Greyfriar’s Bobby across the street, it was blowing  stink just as forecasted.  I had already planned to spend the afternoon watching a matinee inside of Sting’s musical, “The Last Ship”.  I wanted to take a few photos but was so caught up with performance that all I could do was enjoy myself.

Beautiful old theater

Sitting in Princes Garden waiting for the bus to the airport.

And I’ll finish this post and this 45 day Madrid to Edinburgh wander with words from the Declaration of Arbroath:
