Wandering hotel bookings

by WBlackwell on October 29, 2015

One of the things that keeps you on your toes when traveling like I do, which is so very loosely scripted, is finding a place to stay as I rarely book more than a few days in advance since I don’t exactly where I’m headed. I frequently use Expedia.  Since I use lodging simply for that, a place to sleep & shower, I stay on the low end of the spectrum pricewise.  Take The Wight Hotel in Sandown, Isle of Wight ($55/£36 per night for 3 nights).  P1040273

When I booked this hotel two days prior to arrival, I thought it was in Portsmouth and it wasn’t until the morning of my departure from Grand Burstin that I realized it was on IOW. Oops. Well, since the Isle of Wight was a place I wished to see I didn’t consider it an issue but simply a change of plan. I’m writing this in a very nice ensuite room with very strong WiFi (a huge plus as you can guess) after a long soak in the jacuzzi, a swim in the pool and a sit in the wet sauna.  All the aches of the travel from Folkestone are simply a bygone memory.

The island has a nice bus system allowing easy, unlimited travel for £10/$15 for 24 hours.
