Wemyss Bay

by WBlackwell on May 13, 2017

I’ve decided to try something new.  I’ve booked a static caravan (in the US we would use the term mobile home even though by any name they are stationary) in the village of Wemyss Bay (rhymes with seems) on the shores of the Firth of the Clyde, the deepest and largest coastal waters in Britain.  A short train ride from Glasgow it looked like a good place to rest a bit.

Wemyss Bay has without a doubt the best looking rail station I’ve ever seen (Glasgow Central excepting) and adjacent is the CalMac ferry to the island of Bute, which I’ll visit the first good day as the outstanding weather I’ve experienced this whole Britain wander is about to come to a short end.  The lack of rain has been palatable ass I noticed when I saw sprinkler on in the Royal Botanic Garden the other day and I have an iPad full of books to keep me busy when the rain forces a well needed rest.

The next photo is a bit crude, but I saw it as part of the whole place.

Here’s the caravan.

There are two of these rooms

The first thing I needed to do was go food shopping and there is a Morrison’s a short bus ride south in Largs.

A little heavy to lug back after the hike to the park since it requires 944 steps uphill to my spot from the Park entrance.  But for only £26/$33 which I felt was not a bad deal.
