Gourock looking doon the watter

by WBlackwell on January 17, 2020

Gourock train, Greenock East & Central & a fancy Wetherspoons, posh Port Glasgow , the end of an era and 2 near where I’m staying.

Getting ready for Edinburgh again for a few.

Foggy day whilst what looks like a navel vessel went by.  One can catch the ferry to Dunoon here as I did in a Sept 2017 post

Just a quick walk around the high street and along the shore.  Wind kicking up

The base says: The Sweetest of Songs is the Song of the Clyde. Waiting for the ferry, she has been well dressed

Very good view from the large windows

Greenock was worth a walk-a-bout

I didn’t go in, of course since I think the owner a twit, but the exterior of this Wetherspoons was impressive

A nice old square

I turned a corner at the end of a street and suddenly James Watt appeared

This Port Glasgow pub was attempting to be posh

And the walkway to the train station was creative with these murals on the walls

Dumbarton Castle from the train

Read yesterday this old place is going to make way for a modern hotel.

Prices get higher in the city of course.  The State is close to my hotel

The map is on the ceiling

And around the corner

A Last shot from the Hill St viewpoint.  14 nights in Glasgow with many a pub checked off in the city and from my train crawls
