A Storm hit Glasgow

by WBlackwell on January 18, 2020

Over 10,000 people watch the 10m puppet, Storm, march through Glasgow to highlight the deteriorating quality of our oceans. Much better and longer videos can be found online

The good Duke is always sporting a traffic cone but this one is not standard issue.

I can’t remember if I gave the images on the plinth any scrutiny in the past, but they are pretty good

A Glasgow tribute to the 65 men and women who joined 2100 other Brits between 1936 -1939 who went to Spain to fight fascism. And another view of the Clyde.

After the 10m tall puppet in George Sq, I headed across town to Kelvingrove Museum as usual, what with it being a sparkly day. BrewDog across the street is a known god pub. Always, like a Wetherspoons, very dependable & consistent but unlike the latter,  far better brews. More Expensive, but what you get for the added £s is some pretty amazingly delicious and strong brews.
It turns out the 1/2 pints on this side of the city are about 30p-50p more than on my rail crawls coming in at £1.90. That’ll prepare me for Edinburgh

And why is Mariah Carey on crisps packs in a Glasgow pub? I’m guessing because everybody recognizes her and she received a boatload of cash

The Grove was my favorite. Interesting staff, fair prices and a full house.

And Locale had pintxos on the bar for free. Nice touch & their Locale lager was good. Across the way from  Charing Cross .

I was easily 3X the average age of the clientele in Driftwood

Considering how small an area I covered, the 8.5 miles set a Jan record. And I felt it!
