Manchester, England Wrap up

by WBlackwell on June 25, 2017

I just noticed that I have now published over 300 posts of my various trips.  It will be fun looking back some dark winter’s days and who knows, maybe someone else has read a few/

Founded by people from The Isle of Mann and Chester, England. Or maybe from the name Mancunium  a stronghold of  Gnaeus Julius Agricola, the Roman Governor of Britain between 64 AD and 85 and the main conqueror of Britain defeating the Caledonians (Scots) under their Queen Boudica.  His statue is seen on the Town Hall

Very walkable with much of what one would want to see near city center and the free Metroshuttle is a blessing.

It struck me, after a few days walking about, that there seemed to be far less obese & grossly overweight people here than in any other city I’ve been too in the UK.  And a very high number of truly gorgeous women. Just a personal observation one gets when walking for a few days in a city

But the streets are used as rubbish bins.  Most of the crap on the roads are from people too lazy to walk to one of the many litter bins and simply drop that they no longer need like the can of soda or ice cream cup wherever they are when done.

The main activity seems to be shopping with the biggest shopping center, the Arndale, I’ve ever seen.  And the city is known for it’s nightlife.  I found the people to be very friendly but maybe that’s because of my tee shirt!

If I found myself in this section of Britain again I would not hesitate to stop in for a couple days.

Now off to Newcastle.
