Morecambe

by WBlackwell on October 27, 2017

I opted to stay in the waterfront community of Morecambe rather than in the city when Lancaster was added to my wandering.  I did not expect such a nice day. Or such a nice beach town.

Many British towns that are on the sea have long, wide promenades on the seaside with a road running along side and then massive homes, apartments and ground floor shops making for a very pleasant and useful arrangement.  This red stone promenade is miles long and about 18 yard/16 meters wide.

And across Morecambe Bay with it’s very low tide is the Lake District with Barrow-on-Furness to the left and Ulverston directly across.

No, I don’t have a drone, for this photo I must thank Wikipedia.

Apparently when the tide comes in, it does so very quickly and since the outer bottom is quick mud it can be very dangerous so people are warned to to walk the mud flats to far toward the water edge.

Weather was working in my favor as tomorrow is expected to be drizzling and that is of no issue in a city but would have dampened my long sit on the promenade where I chose a state of being over doing.
