Scarborough’s Fair

by WBlackwell on October 12, 2018

I had to work the song into one post.  Sorry. After I left Tim I decided to walk around the city center.  Found a wee art gallery.  Henriette Rae gave us Roses of Youth in 1907

These 3D signs for N.C. Taylor showed they made pen knives and other cutlery

This bench was more comfortable than it looks

Whilst there apparently is controversy over who the woman is the artist is Christopher Nevinson

The woman who is getting all the attention in Courtship on the Beach by Charles Nicholls is reading the scandalous (at the time) Lady Audley’s Secret

2008 Andrew Cheetum – North Bay Scarborough

By a park I saw more Ladybugs than I’ve ever seen at once.  The photo doesn’t do them justice

The round Rotunda houses a sad dinosaur museum.  The building was by far the more interesting

Scarborough Beach and harbor are seen under this iron bridge

A protected, grand beach

This photo is through a glass wall protecting sunbathers from the winds in the old spa

At low tide the weeds cover rock, smoothed by millennia of wave action show easy walking

That I should get shots without the mass of school children poking around the tidal pools was amazing

In the States we would call this shell a Ladyslipper.  This fossilized version is called a Devil’s Toenail here

And after a long walk, the Golden Ball beckoned for a couple more pints.
