Ullapool

by WBlackwell on February 26, 2019

After the bus ride through some desolate but stunning areas of the Highlands I reached Ullapool. I think the Scots decide to pronounce every town that starts with “U” with a different pronunciation Uig, (Ewig) Uist (Youst) come to mind, just to mess with tourists. Ullapool is one of those “you can’t get there from here” places. Without a car or using one’s thumb it is near impossible to go from Thurso in the far north to Ullapool on the west coast which is why I had to go to Inverness then get a bus across country.

As I walked the shoreline it reminded me of so many others with the row of houses, shops and inns bt unlike many other small towns one block inland and there is a real big Tesco!

The Ferry Boat Inn (FBI) was a good stay for the couple days I’d be here
